The DJ School Amsterdam Team
Since 2007, founders Roeland and Olivier Meijs have been building a team of experienced professionals. Each of them is a highly trained dj and/or producer. And, more important, these are open-minded people who are eager to help our talents live up to their ambitions.
Roeland Meijs is one of the founders of DJ School Amsterdam. He developed great skills on the piano at a young age and later joined the School for Music Technology in Hilversum. Also having studied Child Psychology at the University of Amsterdam he has the blueprint background to be the inspiring dj/producer teacher he is.
Roelands most prestigious dj-gigs were as a part of the duo Grooveservice that he formed with his brother Olivier. They rocked all the major clubs in The Netherlands with a unique blend of funk, soul and groovy house.
Roeland became a driving force in creating the BIG FOUR method that is now the corner stone of all dj and producer lessons at DJ School Amsterdam.
Olivier Meijs is co-founder of the DJ School and has been bringing dj's to the stage since the early beginning. Olivier started spinning in the mid-Nineties and was a fulltime dj for more than a decade. He did an estimated 1500 gigs since he started.
Most of his high-profile work was together with his brother, under the name of Grooveservice. They created a distinctive sound both in spinning and producing, which helped them to be very in-demand dj's in the Netherlands. They produced tracks and remixes, ran long lasting club nights and performed live with countless A-league dj's and musicians.
As a solo DJ, Olivier is know for his ultra groovy selection of funk, jazz, Rare Groove and R&B.
Being a graduate journalist, Olivier is also a writer on music for various off- and online media.
Daan van de Pol is backed by a history as a guitar player in multiple bands in his youth and managed to release his first solo dance album in 2009 which led to numerous dj-gigs in A-league clubs.
In the same year he started studying at Herman Brood Music Academy (HbA), from which he graduated in 2012.
He became an in-house producer for major labels including Armin van Buuren's Armada Records and famous dutch producers Fluitsma en van Tijn. Also, several of his own tracks ended up in the Beatport Top-20 and were played by worldwide radio stations including BBC's Radio One.
Daan is currently gaining international succes as a part of the Dutch dj/producer team 'Camouflage'. Together with Drum 'n' Bass DJ Nymfo, he will also release an album on Armada later in 2017.
Folker Zwart is one of Hollands' most prominent techno dj/producers and is a coach in both professions at DJ School Amsterdam.
While studying Electronic Music at the Music Academy/Conservatory in Haarlem he started the famous Schwung parties in 2010. Those were, and still are, a hype in the Amsterdam techno scene. Schwung's fifth anniversary party was one of the highlights of Amsterdam Dance Event 2015.
Folker has performed all over the world. Recent highlights include a tour in South America, Asia and Europe, gigs in Berlin’s legendary techno club Tresor and Hollands' prominent stages Paradiso and Dance Valley. He has been releasing EP’s on multiple big techno labels all over the world.
Welly Ibrahim is backed by an extensive career, both as a dj and as manager of numerous dance events and club nights.
Welly started spinning in the late nineties and became a common name in renowned Dutch clubs like Jimmy Woo, Powerzone and Odeon during the 2000's, playing an energetic mix of soul, R&B, house and the funk he was brought up with. He played alongside Fedde Le Grand, Don Diablo, Gregor Salto and countless other famous dj's from his generation. On Kingsnight 2016 he warmed up for Eric Morillo at Panama Amsterdam.
Welly's passion to bring people together developed into organising his own events. That led to a long list of club nights he hosted since 2008, including recurring events in Amsterdam and Bloemendaal aan Zee. In 2017 Welly started two new events, the vinyl-only club night Zwarte Liefde, and talent night Jonge Vogels.
Bardo Camp a.k.a. DJ Nymfo is amongst the 'big boys' in Drum 'n' Bass.
He is being booked alongside alltime DnB-heroes Marky and Goldie, has been releasing tracks on major labels since 2007 and plays huge crowds week after week. He played at Mysteryland, Lowlands and three times at Tomorrowland.
After publishing his first solo album in 2012 Nymfo toured Asia, New Zealand and the Americas. In 2017 he released an EP with Yellowclaw which was another big break for him.
While being an established name in the genre, Bardo remains a cross-genre producer in the studio which enables him to be a coach in all genres for dj's and producers at DJ School Amsterdam.
Donny de Soet is one of Amsterdams' finest upcoming DJ's. Beside performing his signature disco-meets-house mix all around the Netherlands, he hosts his own party, 'Soetig', every month in the renowned Club Oak in Amsterdam. His new club concept 'Partij voor de Party' launches later this year in Club Air Amsterdam. Donny joined the team of coaches in 2016.
